Wow nice coin... May I ask which source you chose for this coin in the end? I don't think apmex sells these...
I think the late 19th century European gold coins look amazing - especially the Belgium, Bavaria, Prussia, Hungary and Russian ones...

I'd store it in an airtite type holder.

thanks...I know it was probably a bit more than I should have paid but it was in the best shape of the ones I could find...I am not in any way able to grade a coin...what would you say the grade is?

I am going to order some of these to put it in (and future nice coins, thanks sivereagle):

well...shucks...I thought it might be higher...I shoulda taken the advice and gone with these:

    NEN
    1872-A Gold 10 Mark NGC MS-66 = $249
    1872-A Gold 10 Mark NGC MS-65= $219

    Steinbergs
    1872-A Gold 10 Mark NGC MS-66 = $195
    1872-A Gold 10 Mark NGC MS-67 = $250

    live and learn :)

I think the photo I bought it from was a bit misleading...

it doesnt show the nick in the ear and looks in general better shape...not that I am disappointed...I think its a nice coin...next time though I have to be a bit more carefull.

The nick in the ear is a minor distraction, but it counts. What keeps the coin from grading higher are the rim dings. If not for them it would be a 65 easy.
