Hi all, Just wondering what the above coin might be worth? Its quite small, about 20mm. It has IX. Olynp. Winterspiele Innsbruck 1964 on one side with the olympic rings. On the other side it has IX Olympische Winterspiele 1964 Innsbruck with a picture of buildings(?) Any info would be muchly appreciated Thank you!
found something link:http://www.acsearch.info/search.html?term=IX Olympische Winterspiele 1964 Innsbruck &category=1-2&en=1&de=1&fr=1&it=1&es=1&ot=1&images=1¤cy=usd&order=0&company= it's size is 20.3mm , weight- 3.47 grams, .900 gold welcome to CT Sarah. cool gold MEDAL.
here is 1 on Ebay selling for $265. Ebay link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/90-Pure-Gol...7?pt=US_Olympics_Fan_Shop&hash=item43cc01cb43 according to this Ebay seller this is a Medal and not a coin. He also said this medal comes in 3 sizes and yours is the smallest of the 3 medals. he has good information on this medal in his auction. read it. others in here can tell you what just the gold amount is worth.
if I calculated it just for the gold.... 22 carat gold= .900 gold 3.47 grams/31 grams= .111935484 spot price of gold $1,340 X .111935484 = $149.99 ($150.00) so I am guess that $265.00 price is what it has been going for on the market. it might also have to with the number amount of medals made.
not sure if I did that right ??? hopefully others will tell me how to calculate it for 22 carat gold or .900 gold. ???
Isn't 24k 100%? So, 22k would be 91.667% (not a big difference, but certainly significant on a larger medal or coin).
.900 is odd for gold. but Cuba did a lot of .900 in the early days and that was even accepted in America on the east coast.
