Hello to all.....I have come across a 1994 Lincoln Penny with the 4 looking a little off to me...I've looked at the date thru my phone scope several times and I just can't pinpoint why it looks different....thanks In advance for your help!
Yes....it looks like the "leg" of the for is shorter.....but it's there....kinda looks like it's at an angle going thru the four....I'll see if I can get better pics....
As I was able to enlarge it, I see the Four where the bottom of it goes East also it looks kind of filled in. I wonder if it could have been a cracked die? The pictures are rough and it makes the coin look the same so it could be MD. If you have a smart phone there is a free magnifine app that takes pretty GD pictures if that's all you have.
While it may look different, I expect that its the result of die wear and nothing really of note. The more coins you examine, the more often you will see that there are literally thousands of different ways that dies can wear down creating literally thousands of different looking coins. Keep looking. Eventually you'll find something that has real value. It's kinda like when the Lottery Folks say that you can't win if you don't play!
