Subject: CSA Bonds. Criswell 144C; Ball 327. $1000 issued under Act of 2/17/1864. Ball's book says all notes in the Fourth Series of this particular bond were signed by Apperson. I have a beauty which sure enough was signed by Rose.

Anyone found other discrepancies with Professor Ball's details?

here's some photos. red CSA Treasury seal on front top left. embossed CSA treasury seal can be seen on reverse. If counterfeit, it's a good one. I've seen Rose's ink signature 100 times, and this would be a fabulous fake. color is wonderful.

My thoughts exactly, if it is counterfeit, it's hella good... I'd say real without good knowledge of what would make it fake.

It turns out that lots of the 1864 Equestrian bonds were signed by Rose (though the Ball catalog says all were signed by Apperson. Since I made this post in July, I have found 4 more signature anomalies in Equestrians, and several more anomalies in earlier issues.
