2014 Color-Toned Ameros by Daniel Carr

  1. Ordered and received one each of the newly issued pastel color-toned and vibrant color-toned copper Ameros from DC. These are alternate currency fantasy pattern coins and not fantasy overstrikes of U.S. coins. Here is a link if interested:

I find these to be very cool, especially with the enhanced toning as each is unique. Maximum mintage for both combined will be 80 pieces. Enjoy, TC

Will the toning change over time to a less attractive appearance?

Most likely yes. But dan carr does some of the best work in town. As for this 1 I'm not so impressed. However I'm a fan of his 1964 peace dollar.

    Same here!
The last ones that everyone showed off sold out so fast I figured I better not wait with these! My first order with Carr, can't wait to get 'em.

it's an interesting idea but the second one's color looks just like every other artificially toned coin for sale on ebay. really no originality

  8. Wise move. Both are currently "out of stock" on the website. Based on mintage info on the site, it looks like 54 of 80 have been made so far.

And the pastel version went up in price....they must have been selling too many of them! Guess the vivid version will be the rare one.

Just purchased the pastel toned coin. I think the ones posted here are too cool.

  12. The certificates on mine do not state pastel or vibrant only color-toned.

The two you posted are the vibrant. I haven't seen anyone post the pastel example yet.

  14. The first one is pastel not vibrant.

I ask Dan to send me one with nice colors if he had any left. I'll post some pics when it arrives.

You know what you have better than I do. It looked like both of yours were like both of mine, which are vibrant.

I apologize if I led anyone astray.

I might have got the last one. The remaining Panamas are just about gone.

Mine came in a couple days ago and I was quite impressed. The PL reverses are very nice and the color difference is amazing just between these 3 Pastels. Well, 2 are similar, but the 3rd is very blue.
