During 2006 Australia produced 300 gold sets. Eight coins in all with not much on line information. As it turned out the eight coins were sold at melt prices then or about where gold is now. They are very well done and contain 122GR .999 . There was also a similiar silver set but they picture of the queen was when she was younger at the change to decimal. The fifty coin is produced on the box cover with a darker brown hue in gold leaf look. The box is done in " She-Oak with magnetic closure. These have individual serial numbered plaques below the coins.

That set is a real laugh, considering that Australia last issued 1c. & 2c. coins in 1991,& that 50c. is the same shape as the silver circulation one that came out in 1966.

    Investment

You may not like the coins, but there have been very few in the secondary market. An investment of $ 2600 U.S. and a $175 for the silver is returning $ 4600+ in less then a year.

    Buy ?

I have seen two sets on e-bay and a few at one dealer right after they sold out. The gold sets on ebay went as a buy now 4400.00. The dealer packaged six sets he bought at retail with the silver set for 4700.00.
I have two of each for long term investment .
You could try dealers who sell world coins, but they very seldom show up.
