I wish they had some coin shows where I live at. I'd have to travel quite a few hours to get to burlington or melville.
I'll be at the Greater Cincinnati Numismatic expo in Sharonville OH this weekend (suburb of Cincinnati). I'll be there on the 11th and part of the 12th.
I'll be at the Grapevine show this weekend. Just look for the young(er) sleeved out (tattooed) guy with spiked hair and a beautiful-blonde-barbie-doll (<-------nice alliteration there) wifey.
Well the Cincinnati show was unusually small this year. I think the FUN show really hurt it. But it was a really great show for me. It is very unusual for me to find a coin at a show and I am seldom able to buy more than one or two coins a year at shows. (More of my cons now come online, from auctions or specialist dealers) For me shows are more social events. This show provided me with five pieces! Three Conder tokens (two new ones and one upgrade), and two new early large cent varieties. A 1794 S-51 (R-5) and a piece I never thought I would own, a 1793 Liberty cap (S-13 R-4). the Liberty cap is low grade and ugly, but it does have a nearly full date, most of the word LIBERTY is visible and some of the beads are visible on both sides. The 93 cap is a super tough coin. With a mintage of only 11,000 coins spread among five varieties and an estimated survival of only 220 to 350 coins total for all five varieties in all grades, this is a coin that you just don't pick up easily. I now have all three 1793 types (3 chains, one wreath, and one cap) and five of the 16 Sheldon numbered varieties for the year.
