It is in fact a pattern coin. Judd 885 PCGS gave it a PF-64 RB designation. I believe there are only 3 graded higher than this one.
My first old proofs, and I'm completely hooked. Got the Walker Saturday in the mail, picked up the dime today.
Picked this guy up while on vacation last week. Hard to tell in the pics and not designated on the holder, but the coin definitely appears proof-like in hand.
Lovin it was hopin you bought it!! What a great design!! So many of the 1860-80 pattern so much better then the real coins only one they really did it with is the trades seated coins are nice to bad they didn't replace em with something more worthy then the barbers Really the best of the seateds were the Gobrechts and the 1837-38-o coins!!
I cant believe people still turn these in at face value. I have a friend who works at a convenient store. About two years ago, he had a man coming in about 6 or 7 times to buy tall boys...he paid with peace dollars every time... Anyhow, keep your sister looking!!
Stopped into a pawn shop on my vacation last week and picked these up the first three for a little above melt. Grabbed the 50 cent coin just because I liked it.
