The American people must decide whose face will adorn the trillion dollar coins .

Who's face would you like to see adorn the coins ?

Should Congress fail to extend the U.S. debt limit — reached again on Dec. 31 — the president could ask the Treasury to begin printing trillion dollar coins.

What are the chances of these coins being manufactured ? And will they be for sale to the general public later ?

I'm honestly surprised that nobody even replied to this thread.
I don't think these 1 trillion dollar coins would ever be minted by the us mint. The reason being is that the USD is and always will be the world currency. We own the world bank. Second there is 1 person alive that could afford 1 trillion dollars just to get this coin at face value if it had ever been minted.

If I were to pick someone to be on the trillion dollar coin I would pick King George the third as a symbol that America has fallen. As if a trillion dollar coin actually had to be minted the United States would be in financial ruin and our economy would be that of Zimbabwe. BUT it will never come to that so there is nothing to worry about.

The way things are going...it won't always be. I hope things change, but if it does not it will eventually be replaced by something else.

I think there are a lot of people out there trying to scare you because if they do it helps them fill their pockets. I would not buy into the doomsday financial apocalypse hype it is a bunch of bull.

I don't think a financial apocalypse is coming...but I do think if things continue the way they are going, we will cease to be the super power that we are today.

Alright, I can somewhat agree to that but the process will take quite a while. However I do not believe that it will come to that. I'm predicting an economy much like that of the 1920's within 3-4 years. Meanwhile some people suggest we will be doomed by then and gold will be $5000 an oz and silver about $250.

The problem is...we keep mortgaging ourselves out. With the rising debt (and up and coming nations like China and India buying it)...we may find ourselves overtaken by those countries and it might not be as far out as you think. Now, that's not the end of the world...but it would certainly mean a reduction in being the world's #1 super power. However, it's something that we should strive to avoid. But, it may already be to late. The truth is, no nation is on top forever. Rome couldn't do it, England couldn't do it, we won't be able to either.

But we can simply take interest rates to zero effectively forever if we wish, or just inflate ourselves out of debt. Inflation is the ultimate tax idea.

Btw, Josh, did you mean the 30's? The 20's were a great time for this country, and they would have continued had Congress not inflicted the Great Depression on us by their stupid protectionist policies.

The way our government works these days is that they don't do a damn thing until they actually have to. the reason for this is because if they don't they won't be reelected. Right now kicking the can down the road with the debt ceiling will work and when we finally can no longer do it that is when our government will go crazy and find a solution that works. it is all about being reelected and staying in power with politicians. obviously if we were to start ranking down our politicians are the ones to blame and they would lose the next election.

in the 1920's the us economy was booming. that is how I think our economy will be fairly soon.

You had better hope you are right, but I think you are mistaken. Russia and China are leading the charge taking down the dollar as the world reserve currency. It's no secret in the news and I would be happy to link you to over a dozen articles.

I agree that people peddle fear, but don't ever be so blind that you miss what is right in front of your eyes. I say this not to insult you, rather just to get you to do some digging before saying [QUOTE="The reason being is that the USD is and always will be the world currency. We own the world bank."[/QUOTE]

Obviously no empire has ever lasted forever, and we will be no exception sir...

Our economy is *FAR* from booming. It's actually shrinking. I sure hope we can *BOOM* once again...for our children's sake, but I am doubtful as corporations continue to outsource a great deal of our manufacturing to countries with less environmental restrictions and less rights for laborers.

As long as these corporations continue to flood Washington with dirty lobby money, the peoples rights will remain second to those of the corporations. They will continue to go offshore and avoid taxation while the middle class continues to be decimated (as it is being right now) and the (REAL)number of unemployed citizens continues to rise.

We are far from the glory days and heading down the rabit hole. My $.02
