Hey All, another from the Grandparents.....so I of course am not sure. The first is regular shot and how I saw the coin, the others are magnified at different angles. 1942.jpg IMG_0276.JPG IMG_0127.JPG

Then we can see if its a DDO

Ty for the Reply this coin has been in holder for over 40 yrs BTW. Oh um I do know it was not the 41/42 I wish LOL. I will post the whole pic as soon as I can, I got to work this week, I hope I will get in here today. So no comment on the date itself though?

Date looks like a worn die striking to me.
But someone may have a different opinion .

Here you go....My thought was the 1 and 9 are dbld and the 4 I am not sure looked a little flat. As to "In God We Trust" I think I see a little something with the I-N-R and IMG_0371.JPG IMG_0396.JPG S but they are very worn.

I hope these are better shots....on line I found a few other that posted what they thought to be dbld for this year, but they were MD going West and very flat.

Not a DDO but has a large S mint mark.
If were in a higher grade like Bu would be worthy of grading.
In the grade posted just a Good keeper large S 1942 Mercury dime.

Hey Sir, sorry to go back to this one. As I look at some of the early listings of this series the few of them, the 9 seems to be the one that is dbld. Just wondering if you can really take another look at that 9 again. The 1 seems to show a split but pretty much on top of each other. The 4 seems flat but when you get to the 2 (what's left of it) the top portion is very thick. Back to the 9 though it does show a minor (what I think I see) split serif on the bottom and the doubling (that I think I see) is around the top East of the 9; this is not flat at all and resembles some of the earlier ones in the series. Couldn't there be doubling and MD on coin/two different process. Please, I am not trying to be a stinker just asking if you can revisit it. I can try to get more of close up on the 9, but I don't I have great equipment. Thank you for looking and responding the first times you are the only one responding ty!!!!

9 could have some doubling .90% of time it's machine doubling .
    I hope that helps.

Hey thanks so much Sir for even taking the time to do this!
I never use a microscope but I did, a cheesey one. There is spread on Top of the T in Liberty and The Y, my pictures here, if you look at the Y it shows a bit, but way blurry. I also observed it on the initials but I think it's MD. I wish I had a set up to take pictures from the microscope. I am going to look into it just a bit more. If I find something or purchase the right scope I will post it. Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I was at work.
