I found this coin today inside of a jar where I keep just a bunch of different coins, I was wondering of there was anything special about it?
The reverse looks funky. I don't know the value but it is something to split apart from the rest just because the artistic design on the reverse is interesting.
Not really worth much. Here are two closed sales from last month (same year, 1962): http://www.ebay.com/itm/Old-New-Zea...0529537?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item4d1e483181 http://www.ebay.com/itm/1962-NZ-New...291172365985?pt=AU_Coins2&hash=item43cb39b6a1 Here are active listings: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odk...nny&_nkw=1962+new+zealand+half+penny&_sacat=0
Yours looks like it might have been removed from jewelry to me. I personally like New Zealand coins and I think it's a good area to collect.
It looks like a soldering mark at the top to me. Maybe it's just the photo, but you can use melted metal to join two metal items together without making a hole and that's how it looks to me.
