Look at it this way, if you can get them at face, you will never lose money. As an investment, you could realize profit along the line, I hoping too.

    CoinScams,
I'm not trying to sound negative, but why do you believe the values of Presidential coins will quickly skyrocket to the moon?

Platinum sounds GOOD at this point. It's expensive now - but it'll really be expensive in the future :)

I just have a feeling these coins will turn some rather nice profits, at lease the first few coins in the series.

Nobody, but us, wanted the first new nickels either "Peace nickel" now it is worth upwards of 90 bucks a box. People only started jumping on the new nickels when the Bison nickel came out, the same time the price fell out of them. Only the Peace and Keelboat Westward Journey nickels are holding any profits margins, you are lucky if you can give away the bison rolls, for face value.
Current Ebay price on a sealed box of peace nickels is about 50.00 bucks.
We are so glad we didn't listen to all the people saying DO NOT BUY the new peace nickel!
We invested 10k on the peace nickel rolls and rolled it into 50k within 2 years. 40k profit and I never left my house to earn it, God I love the US mint and Ebay. My only regret was I didn't invest 100,000 instead of 10,000 on the Peace nickel.

    3 more days.

Well don't look now, but the US Mint has lowered their price on these bags back to 32.95.. which was the original selling price of the Delaware $25 dollar bags.

The US mint lowered prices??? Someone at the Mint must be sick.

However look at the quarter rolls, they went up .95 cents per box and that isn't the only item the US mint went up on.

No - actually the first minting is calling for 300 million - compared to the 1.3 BILLION first mint Sackies - we're not looking at overload yet.

If had had $40,000 to invest, I'd buy all of the 10th Anniversary Platinum sets I could, the 2006 W 4 coin gold sets and all of the 2006 W silver eagles that I could until the money ran out. I would only waste 10,000 on the pres coins. We'll see what they sell for in 5 years ...only hindsight is 20/20. It's tough to invest in a circulating coin that only collectors want and no one will ever use.

I would say an excellent investment if you are going to live to be 200 years old.

I don't think I will invest a whole lot in them cuz I don't like the design to be honest. It just doesn't catch my eye. I will probably buy one of the proof sets for each year, and get an UNC. one for each prez from my bank, but I'm not going to do much. That's just me.

I for one am "not seeing the love" for these coins. If the coins I see on t.v. are any indication of the design of the Washington dollar, then forget it. As I understand it, the mint is releasing the coins to the Feds. already in rolls, not in the traditional bags with subsequent rolling by a third party for distribution. I haven't seen what packaging the mint is going to sell their rolls in for the "collector" yet.
I'll probably wait and see what they have in mind and order a couple of P&D rolls. If it's basically the same as the Sac's, then I'll subscribe the same as I have for the Sacagawea, 2 rolls of each and put them away. In my humble opinion, this program is a little different from the state quarters. At least with that program, there was a real interest in what each persons individual state coin was like. In this case I only have an interest in the "big hitters", Washington, Lincoln, Roosevelt, and maybe some others I can't bring to mind, like Ike, but really don't care about a lot of them. Just like a lot of the commem's the mint issues. Now if I could buy a $25.00 roll for $25.00 then my feeling would be, what have you got to lose. The only ones that have any eye appeal at all are the proofs, and I get them with the yearly set anyway, the better strikes, I am told are in the mint sets, and I get them anyway. Just like the Sac's, what's so special about these?? I can see some of the interest in the "westward journey nickle series, with the "common" Jefferson scheme and different facial profiles on the obverse, and different designs on the reverse for a couple of years and then revert back to a fixed pocket change design to be used for who knows how long. I think it should be labeled a dollar commem. with a mintage of 500,000 or so and let it go at that. The dollar coin is a failed idea to begin with, the public doesn't want it and didn't use it. I see on the hype on t.v. about the collector value of these coins, and then see that they've already got them "encapsulated by the official grading service of the industry" as brilliant uncirculated..!!???....so basically they're crap.

will these coins be released to banks uncirculated?

If so, why buy them from the mint?

I agree, although I will say that I like to have the "official collector example", as part of my collection and I'm assuming they will be packaged similiar to the Sac's in the two roll sets.

I just checked with my banks and neither ordered any. As mentioned before $ coins are hard to get rid of.

PCGS seems to have a plan to help collectors part with their money. http://forums.collectors.com/messageview.cfm?catid=26&threadid=568969
I find it hard to believe anyone would take part in this.

Good question. I have not found a bank around here that knows anything about them so if i want any I will have to get them somewhere. George looks pretty sour on the uncirculated coin. I have to think about what he would look like after some heavy circulation.
