Authentic ancient egyptian coin? #3

    The Egyptians never minted coins during their prime and those designs look very Greek in nature, and the texture of the coin itself looks like shiny plastic to me. No offense, just my thoughts.

    They are silver, that's all they have going for them

    Both appear to be modern fakes. The first is not a regular ancient coin type and the second is a poor example of a well-known fake.

    Umm...the Egyptians did mint ancients...

    Although as another poster has pointed out, these are neither Egyptian, nor ancient.

    Sorry I didn't clarify that statement. What I meant to say was that coins were never minted when the pharaohs held absolute authority (think Thutmose III, Ramesses II, etc.). They did mint ancient coins, but not until the late dynastic period, when they really lost of lot of their own centralized prominence on the world stage other than acting as a conduit for other world players (Persia, Ptolemaic Greece, Rome, etc.).
