Howdy All, I've been thinking on doing a blog on coins and other stuff (antiques), and I would like to know what would be the best blogging site to use. I know there's Google+, Tumblr, etc., but whats the one to use? Thanks Aidan
Just as a suggestion: use your own. That way you own your content and retain control over exactly how your site is presented. You can get a domain for under $10 a year and get an inexpensive host for under $5 a month. Blogging software from Wordpress is free to download and use.
I actually agree with that even though I use Blogger for my coin blog. For my larger tech site, I run my own site. I get a lot of traffic, so the hosting is $30 a month, but that's still pretty cheap. If the coin blog catches on, I'll move it to there. For now, Blogger is easy and makes me lazy
Then use Blogger. Can you afford to register a domain? You don't HAVE to, but if your blog ever did become something serious, it's easier. For example, "coins.aplawrence.com" points to my Blogger page. If I ever want to move it to my hosted site, I just point it there and the visitors will never know, outside links will not break and it is painless for everyone.
I know that this is quite fast but it's a work in progress. Yap about what you like and don't like, I need to know. http://cointiquities.blogspot.com/
I run a website that has several linked pages. I guess I never got into the blog thing. I like that I can control the appearance of my pages better than a blog, format-wise. At least that's what I think the differences are. Links to my pages are below.
No. Black text, white background. Anything else you will lose readers. I won't even look at a blog with colored text.
I agree, buy your own domain, get a hosting account, and Wordpress. You can do all that at Wordpress.com too, if you don't want to dig into the nuts and bolts (not that running Wordpress is hard or anything). And, most importantly, don't forget to put a link to CoinTalk.com on your blog!
