Looks like some process that involved a decent about of heat to it. I was never gutsy enough to play with good silver coins when I did my heat experiments on coins
Looks to me like it was set upon a light bulb mounted plate for heat transfer...the blue ring around the perimeter is the giveaway for me....as well as the golden rings moving outward.. I can be wrong..but just saying what I think...remember you asked what we thought...... Beautiful coin though.. RickieB
I would say AT also. It certainly looks like a heat transfer type of toning because its distributed too evenly. Working with metals every day, I see how heat distributes in metal and what heat marks look like. This is definitely a perfect example of that.
I've seen coins that looked really bad AT that were slabbed by both PCGS and NGC---this one is really pretty and has great eye appeal and I think they would slab it in a heart beat. Speedy
If any of y'all have any spare Bullion Eagles that you want to have toned like that send em on over. I am sure the propane stove and I can help you out.
And you might be right. But ever since the toning craze took off a few years ago, the TPGs are extra cautious - unless they are certain it's NT - they BB it.
