I dont see a mint mark. the coin is badly damaged I cant imagine much of a premium even if there was a mint mark.
I see what you're indicating, but I think it's an ink-blot. I'd study it really hard with strong oblique light, but I think you'd have a hard time convincing a buyer that it's there.
I heard from someone if you put exhaust soot from your car it helps you to see mint marks. I don't think I would to try something like that. I just tossed it in my dud bin, coins that don't sell and deciding what I want to do with it, keep it, through it in with junk silver, whatever.
Don't look for ghosts. It shouldn't be that hard to research the style used for the date and see if it even remotely matches instead of the pareidolia.
Interesting concept. This refers to seeing the man on the moon or shapes in clouds but I am sure it happens often when searching a random set of coins for key dates.
