I picked this one up recently. It is one of the nicest franklins I have seen. The hit in the left obverse field is hardly noticable in hand. The face also looks not chewy in hand. It's amazing how much a photo can change the way a coin looks (just look at bones peace dollar thread!).
I paid 40 dollars for it. There is little doubt in my mind that any grading company would grade it anything other than a ms-66.
They aren't even close to full. It seems to me that on the 53-s and 54-s they are very very difficult to find in FBL.
nice coin great year,my birth year a local dealer offered me one for$50. i thought it was a little high.
Very nice! It looks cleaner than mine, which is graded MS66. Note the marks on the cheek: Also, I wouldn't be so sure your wouldn't grade FBL. I can't tell from your picture, but on a lot of the slabbed 54S FBL Franklins I've seen, you've practically got to stand on your head and look at the coin sideways to make out the bell lines. So, you never know. I don't think they're held to the same standard as dates known for stronger strikes.
