Never saw one of these before, and there was only about a $5 "premium" over a raw one, so I bought this for $65 today in Baltimore. Anyone else seen a Blanchard slab before?

Yes, I bought a couple of MS-64 1884-O Morgan dollars in Blanchard slabs several months ago. Very nice coins which went into a couple of 20th Century dollar type set holders rather nicely.

Yours has some very nice peripheral toning mine did not have.

I have seen a few of those slabs--not as common as some of the other fringe players. That is a nice Ms 63 coin.

Reminds me of the SEGS holder but with neat swirls in the plastic.

Is this Blanchard related to the PM firm Blanchard?

These were pretty common a couple decades ago.

It is much closer to the ACG slab. Which is understandable because they licensed the slab from Accugrade and ACG designed the shell.

If you like this one, they have a MUCH rarer slab. It is huge and holds a full roll of silver dollars in a 4X5 arrangement.

    Same company.

When I look at that holder, I'm thinking why don't today's TPG's use patterns like that on their holders? A lot harder to counterfeit.
