how did I do for $13? Larger pics of coin at bottom of the page. http://www.ebay.com/itm/111393246387?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I'm no expert, but I think you got a good deal. If I had seen it on ebay I would have bought it. Then again, I love large cents.
A nice coin at a good price. Unfortunately, at $3.50 you were thoroughly gouged on shipping. I can ship a large cent safely and securely (in the U.S.) for 91 cents, and any of you CT-er's can too; actually, probably 3 large cents for 91 cents, I'd have to weigh them, and don't have one handy. The shipping container costs 11 cents. These containers do not use bubble wrap or shredded newspaper or foam, ALL of which are worthless for protection. Also, in case you didn't know, for overseas shipments (let's say 5 ounces), it is far cheaper to send two letters (mailers of 2 and 3 ounces) than one 5-ounce parcel; this assumes you can fit the items into mailers. Slabs don't qualify.
yes shipping was high. He was asking 16.99 for the coin so I offered 13 to make up for the shipping charges
Also, the USPS is very deceptive on its otherwise-economical $5.80 flat-rate box. It comes with $50 insurance included. But if you need $100 insurance, that "$50" doesn't count - it disappears, and you have to pay the full amount for $100, you can't just add another $50 insurance and pay an additional $50 rate. I have written the Postmaster-General and the rates commission 3 times about this fraud; how many replies do you think I've received? What stamp guys think of the Postmaster-General:
Wow, care to share the information, any pics or links. I love saving money and any new ideas would be appreciated.
strange how this thread turned into a postal issue! Usually coins on the bay that charge more for shipping sell for less. Buyers factor everything into total out the door price.
