Howdy Y'all, This thread is where you post your coins that have stories behind them. Here's mine: I bought this barber quarter (good condition with full rims) last year-ish at my local coin show from a dealer and fellow club member for $4. He told me if I could find another barber that good he would buy that coin for me. So, I walked around the entire show a couple of times looking through the other dealers selections of barber quarters, and I didn't find another quarter like that one I have. Oh well, but I had fun. (pics below) Your turn! Aidan
I don't understand the story. You couldn't find another barber quarter in Good condition? Even that date I think isn't scarce in that grade. Why couldn't you find another one? Just curious. Sorry, I can't upload pics on this computer.
I did find plenty of 1899 barber quarters in G, I just couldn't find another as good as the one that I have, like full rims.
ah. That makes sense. Yeah, sometimes it's not as easy to find good quality coins for the grade. For instance, today I've been looking for low mintage coins of the 19th century (US coins) in low grades, especially the affordable ones. However, none are available, or if they are, they have major problems. I imagine coin shows are the same. It tells you a little about how accurate price guides really are.
