I decide a good exercise for today would be to determine my lowest population CAC approved coin. This analysis is similar to the fun I had determining my "rarest" coin according to PCGS (see here). Note: I am using CAC's pop numbers, not NGC or PCGS numbers. I am also only looking a green CAC pop, not any Gold stickers.

There are several factors that would lead to a coin having a low CAC-pop. Could be a very rare coin, or it could be so common and affordable, that people don't bother submitting to CAC. Or it could be a series that JA is really, really hard on. (or as @GDJMSP would say, a series that the TPG are really, really lenient on) :D

Much like my rarity vs value thread, these numbers and color-coded chart may be more indicative of popularity than anything else. Still, I find it interesting. Which series have the correct combination of popularity & value to commonly submit to CAC?

RED = Many CAC approved examples in all grades
GREEN = Few CAC approved examples in all grades
YELLOW = below average number of CAC approved examples
ORANGE = above average number of CAC approved examples

This is only taking into account my own collection. I have some very common coins and some more scarce coins, so I think my CAC Type set is a representative collection of analyze.

    Here are my results:

As you can see Morgan, Peace, Buffalo, Silver Commem are all quite common to find with a green CAC sticker. Some other series like the Jefferson 1943/2, I apparently own 1 out of only 13 approved in all grades! (thanks @mainer020648)

I hope that some of you find this mildly interesting!

Cool idea. I like the color coding - is that conditional formatting in Excel?

For fun, maybe add a column with the mintage numbers and a percentage (13/108,138,618 = .000012% for the 1907 Indian Head Cent), then sort top down by percentage. Would be interesting to see if the positions changed. You could do the same with the NGC and PCGS populations.
