Thoughtful NY Times Article about the Lincoln cent

    Today's NY Times contained a really good article about the history, current and future prospects of the Lincoln cent.

    Interesting article. It just wouldn't seem right though to see a different president on the coin. This is one coin though I wouldn't mind seeing a symbol of our country instead and then elevate Lincoln to a new coin.

    That article makes me appreciate my 1909 Lincoln Cent a little more now that i know the story surrounding it's release

    Great article. There are only a couple minor errors which is exceptionally good for any newspaper story. It was well researched and there were a couple things I hadn't known in it.

    It's a shame the writer didn't get into the waste these represent more than he did. There is a huge human toll in using a coin that is wasteful yet this is always overlooked to enrich the few.

    Perhaps a more fitting thing to put on the coin would be a Congressman stepping out of a limo or special interests handing out money right on the house floor.

    Yeah, get rid of the penny, and start striking a fiver. If you think about it, it might be a good idea to get rid of everyone on the coins, including Washington. Then have an Anna Nicole Smith Half Dollar or something like that.
