So has anyone ever attempted painting coins or currency on the walls, chairs, computers, gaming consoles etc... I been thinking about painting my cigar box with Morgan Dollars and some old large notes. If you have done this before I'd like to see it.
I am in the process of doing a large Morgan dollar 16 X 20 acrylic painting. It is gonna be about 10 inches in diameter. bright neon yellow (coin) with a ultramarine blue with black blended in it backround. the detail on the coin will be black. more on it this coming Thursday my day off. if it turns out it will look cool... if it does not turn out I will call it an abstract painting lol.
here is the Morgan dollar I found on the internet/ bing to enlarge and transfer to my canvas....imagine it 10 inches bigger. I know it looks all washed out but perfect for small details.
My first attempt at drawing a Morgan Dollar. liberty's hair is very hard to draw! @spirityoda Try to beat this!
As a critic can I make a suggestion. Look up decoupage and use old coin magazines or color print web illustrations and size and use. Or let the kids do it. There are several professional artists who do large acrylic canvases of various coins and sells them.
I had a poster of Lincoln I was going to do a whole back, but can't find it. Here is a small sketch I did a few months ago and never got around to adding details.
I do have a little bit of a better knack at digital art, though, so maybe try exploring that as well. Here is an "oil painting" I made on the computer of one of my coins. If you have a tablet, there are also a few great apps for art (I recommend sketchbook pro). Here's a few I did on an iPad (non-coin, but you could definitely do coin art on one) GG Bridge, SF: Half Dome, Yosemite
Hey yours looks much better than mine. P.S I used a black pen and tried to do a larger drawing. it is pretty tough just eyeing the coin next to me. So mine is an abstract drawing... it looks that way on purpose
x115, I like your version better than the original Morgan.... Get some crayons and tone that thing.....
