Latest coin to share is a sestertius of Severus Alexander I have had for over a month. Im still very cautious getting these due to good fakes. Severus Alexander (222 - 235 A.D.) Æ Sestertius O: IMP ALEXANDER PIVS AVG, laureate bust right with slight drapery on far shoulder. R: SPES PVBLICA S C, Spes advancing left, flower in right, raising skirt with left. Rome Mint, 232 A.D. 19g 29mm RIC IV 648
I like the color on this pond skipper, and I've always like this Spes reverse with the flower. It kinda reminds me of the 1960's and the "flower" generation.
Sweet => that's a nice sestertius pick-up, Mat (congrats) ... yah, I love the feelin' of those big babies in-hand (very cool addition)
Yaaaaa, that's what i'm talking about, nice big well centered coin with good details, very nice Mat..
Again Mat, I really like your new, big pond-skippin' addition ... Ummm, I also have a couple of big Severus Alexanders to toss into your sweet thread ... neither are sestertii, but both are big and plump and kinda cool ... Pontus, Amasia. Severus Alexander.
