SGS nickel

    Howdy all,

    I got a nickel that was in an SGS container (free). I searched up SGS and found out that they aren't that reliable. The nickel does have toning on it, I want to know what your opinion on the grade is.

    Definitely not a 70. There are lines and blotches on the coin that,IMO, would make it a details coin.
    You said you got it at no cost? That's a pretty good deal.

    Details. No numerical grade.

    Sure looks like it was treated with something. I would say MS details - tough to tell with the angled pictures.

    Not a 70 for sure...

    I think the lines are planchet striations and I think that perhaps the coin has been mishandled, which is what caused the blotchiness.

    Whether the mishandling was from a minimum wage packager or the submitter is unknown.
