1985 d damage or ?

    Found this and not sure if it was something that happened at the mint or what.i figured if it was damage after minted the numbers would reflect it.????? magnifying_2014-06-21_13-28-18.jpg

    Zinc rot. It's gotten under the copper plate around the D, and is lifting it.

    Im talking about the indention around the d.here is a better pic. magnifying_2014-06-21_14-43-52.jpg

    It's still zinc rot. The copper plate was compromised, letting moisture into the zinc. The zinc has started to rot away, causing the copper to weaken. In the first pic, the copper looked raised, in the second, it looks like it's collapsing.

    Okay.ty.wasnt sure since the indention is almost perfectly round.
