    Hi there -

I'm new to the world of numismatics (although I have been a fan of coinage for as long as I can remember)...and have a question that just came to mind - and was hoping some of the good folks here could answer it:

Why to all of the president's heads on the nickle, dime, quarter, 50-cent piece & silver dollar face to the left yet Lincoln's head on the penny faces to the right?

Thanks for your help with this curiosity!

The direction of the bust changes direction when a new design comes

Lincoln faces to the right on the cent because that's how the sculptor, Victor David Brenner, depicted him on the plaque that won the design contest in 1907.

Hi Mark, please limit to one thread each specific question or subject. When we get people answering on different threads it gets confusing. I delete the other one.

    Welcome

awesome! thank you all for the feedback :)

And Jim - I definitely shall limit questions to 1 thread in the future. I just wasn't sure which forum was the best place to ask such a question :)

    Cheers all!
