    doesn't that portion have the "UN" of "united" in reverse?

    Do you think someone took some off then welded back? I guess staring at it more makes sense. Sorted on the reverse?

    Appears to be post mint damage rather than a genuine error. The obverse looks promising but the reverse does not look like it was mint made.

    Also.. You wouldn't say doubled strike. Just double strike. Doubled is a word used when referring to a Doubled Die ;)

    Looks like another coin was smashed against its obverse while it was lying reverse-down on a concrete surface, maybe?
