Okay, the script found another ~300 URL, 63 of which are new to me. That brings my unfiltered list of coin related URLs to 963! Hopefully I will keep 10-15 of these 63 once I check them by hand. I am not trying to boast, but with my efforts, CoinTalk could very well could have THE BEST Online Coin Dealer List on the entire web when I'm done. @Peter T Davis Here are some facts I know to be true: My list is cleaner and more comprehensive than: ANA dealer list PNG dealer list PCGS dealer list CAC dealer list CU "Master" dealer list I have not looked extensively at the NGC dealer list, but I will soon. Please, if you know of a better list than mine, share it here so I can check it out!
This is what happened to me. I'm in the hole for $1700 and a possible nother $1000. Having to sell some things and clear a path. Lol
Well I am glad I made your list, I must be doing some things right. It is difficult to transition to a newer look but I am proud of what I've got and I think it serves my needs and those of my customers well.
I cannot overstate how impressed I am with this work, Matt. It is truly a service to the industry at large. I think that, if prominently featured on the Cointalk site, and well-maintained, it would do much to increase the membership of the forum (directed at Peter). - Mike
I couldn't agree more with you on both counts and it does seem as though quite a few folks have drifted away ... But yes Geekpryde/Matt it is quite good work! Best Regards, George
Thanks! Agreed on the "prominently featured" comment. When I'm done, I will ask Peter if he's interested in making this a sticky, or maybe even its own webpage on the site, with a large link on the front page. Whatever he thinks is best, but at a minimum, it will be in a thread here started by me, and maintained as best as possible. I still have another 100 or so sites my custom web-scrapers found in the last day that need to be gone through. I'll make time for that today.

update: 12 new sites listed, 2 added based on member PMs. stats: 180 verified dealer sites (online inventory with photos & prices) aka "Keepers" 969 coin-related URLs found and manually inspected by me. comments I added the requirement that an included sites be primarily in English. While I know these sites could be translated on the fly, and that many of you might speak multiple languages, I do not and thus I cannot verify them. Also, I want this list to be the best and easiest list for people to find online coin sellers, and not have to bother with translation browser extensions, etc. My bots are starting to pickup Chinese and Spanish based sites. Future Progress I am still finding 50-100 URLS every time I tweak and let me web-scrapers loose, but the returns are diminishing. I just went through around another 100 sites, and only kept 10 (+ 2 from members here). I expect further additions will be highly specialized sites, or sites that I had looked at and rejected too quickly. For instance, I have added some bullion-heavy sites to the list that I had initially rejected, because on further review, they do sell enough classic and/or modern coins. Lists Wanted I have asked some people here and elsewhere for their own house-list, but as you can imagine, some people don't want to share their hard-work and see it simply gobbled up into my list. I completely understand, but at the same time, if any DOES want to help, I am glad to review any lists and merge them into this Master CT List.
I have looked at that site twice, and I want to add it (and others), but they just dont seem to have enough photos for their online listings. There are some other great sites I removed as they are simply lists. This was a hard choice. If that site every gets a higher percentage of listings with images I would love to include them.
This may be too daunting a technical challenge, but I have a suggestion that might really be helpful to users . . . Since there are going to be far too many sites for users to check every time they want to go looking for their target coin(s), it would be nice if they knew how to narrow their search. If apparent specialties or focal series were identified for each site, that might really help those who are short on search time. Alternatively, if after examining the sites on your list, users could bookmark, annotate or otherwise flag sites of preference, that would allow them to similarly whittle down the list of sites to which they would habitually return. Once logged into Cointalk, the sites preferred by the logged in user would be differentiated from those sites they have decided are not "up their collecting alley". The remainder of sites would still be in the list they see, and might still be visited occasionally, but probably not with the same frequency. Thoughts?
Well, you asked for it. I like your poll options. Here is my little list of nice dealers, who aren't afraid to accommodate, with reasonably priced shipments outside of the US. It's no big trick to charge $30-$50 shipping on $30-$50 items, which is what ebay and many others tend to do, to discourage sales. GoldenShowerWisconsin. http://stores.ebay.com/goldenshowerwisconsin The Cheap Slab Store http://www.cheapslabs.com/shop/index.php Ron Winter Coins http://www.ronwintercoins.com/
Golden Shower is eBay only as far as I know, so that doesn't make the list. Cheap slabs was already on the list. Ron Winter is eBay only as far as I know, so that doesn't make the list. But I do like the efforts! Keep them coming people.
Once I squeeze the last drops out of my bots and finding new sites, that is exactly what I plan to do. The categories I was thinking so far: Superior Website (nice design, highly functional) Classic US Coins Modern US Coins Bullion Coins RAW sellers CAC sellers Error-Coin sellers Ancient-Coin sellers High-End sellers ($5,000 + coins) ... Feel free to add some ideas.
