Hello Members, wondering if any expert here can identify this coins era and possibly its price. your help will be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure of what metal has been used, but its quite thick and heavy. Has been in the family for quite some time now and will be interested in selling it if the price is good. Thanks.
It could be Islamic, but it appears to be Indian in origin. Remember, "India" in the historical context also included modern day Pakistan. THCoins and some others here know Indian coins better than I.
Your specimen is in the style of the "Kalima type" coinage of Mughal emperor Akbar. However, for one the material is wrong, the original should be good quality silver. In addition, your inscription looks awfully crude compared to the original. In conclusion, i believe this is a very bad copy which is usually sold under the name "temple token". Commercial value: next to nothing.
Thank you so much for the clarification.. Another expert had the same thing to say. Mystery solved.. Unfortunately. i did notice that in the pics, it came out golden whereas it is actually silver in color. not sure if its real silver..sigh..so hard to accept that something in your family turned out to be a fake where can i find the real coin's pics?
