I was born in 1973, and I want a complete set of Eisenhower dollars from that year. I have or have ordered the regular P and D clad business strikes, the S 40% silver business strike, the S clad proof, and the S 40% proof. I looked in the red book and didn't find any others. Am I missing any? Next is the entire set of half dollars, then quarters.
I think the Ike P and D business strikes were only issued in mint sets that year, so maybe you can pick up an intact 1973 mint set. Otherwise, I believe you have them all unless you want varieties.
I'm talking about the circulation P and D business strikes. There were more clad P and D business strikes? I ordered one from ebay that came in a wrapper with a red edge on one side of the wrapper. What Ike did I buy?
Sounds like someone cut up a mint set and sold you the individual Denver Ike coin. Like I said earlier, the 1973 "circulation" Ike dollars were only issued in mint sets that year, not in bags or rolls. You could not get them directly from the bank unless someone broke up a mint set and spent them.
As far as I know, noone has yet discovered a 40% silver Ike minted in Denver in 1973, but I wouldn't bet much against it's existence.
If you like big silver and are willing to look outside the US, this 1973 looks cool: http://www.ebay.com/itm/PANAMA-1973...7424431?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item1e8d2b002f 129 grams!
