It's an 1897, not a 1987, but I think you already know that. I can give you no price, but can write that it looks impaired if it is a proof at all.
Oh, sorry about the date... Great Southern Coin says it's the real deal and wants $2750 for it. You would say "beware"?
I agree that it is a proof... but for $2,750 you can get a much nicer coin. This one is junk. Impaired... possibly cleaned... coming from GSC I'm sure this coin has been freshly cracked from a problem holder.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1892-MORGAN...73?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item2ed1c2515d Here is a certified PF63 for nearly the same amount of money. I think you'll be much happier with this piece.
I wasn't certain it was a proof because the images are so terrible. However, I think you may have a misconception about proof coinage from this era. That is, the great majority of these coins don't have real contrast between the devices and the fields. This is unlike modern proof coinage. Regardless, I cannot stress strongly enough to you that you are attempting to buy beyond your knowledge and will get burned eventually.
I hear you! I called 5 shops today to try and see a Morgan proof and none of the 710 are in this town. I got no perspective for sure. But I still have my $2750! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
In my opinion the face looks suspicious, I very much agree it is the real deal. And just as a side note why is it people buy from great southern, they are overpriced and usually are raw pieces which have no reason to be raw besides the fact something is off about them. Must be the pics they take, usually they catch the eye
Proof Morgans are one of the last coins you should purchase without viewing in hand or by having a trusted competent dealer viewing for you. More dogs then cream in the pool.
