I can't find this guy listed anywhere. I see the type in bronze but nothing in silver.

    Thoughts?

I think its Constantine I, reverse is BEATA TRANQVILLITAS, altar inscribed with VOT/IS/XX

Never seen silver though, bronze type is common a dirt.

Not an area I specialize in.

Ok, I just dropped it on the scale. It's 3 grams on the nose.

    Hello Matt,

You know that I am an amateur in the realm of ancient coins. Having said that, I don't like the look of the coin. It just has the look of a tourist piece.

I would give my 2 cents but I'm not qualified by any stretch of the imagination on ancient coins.

I have a feeling its fake. Never have I seen a silver constantine I with this reverse and looking at other sites/records, see none like this.

As for the weight, thats the normal range for the bronzes.

I have seen bronze coins plated for added appeal to collectors but usually they use nice ones. Filing a spot on the edge might reveal copper. It might also ruin a nice coin. There was a type issued as billon but that is not the type normally seen. I do not have one but see:

I suppose it is possible that it was issued in this as well. First ones were more silver than later ones. I might hold it until you are at a show attended by Berk or similar level dealers.

There is a Licinius billon as well (also Trier).

i assumed the reddish coloration what bronze peaking through the silver, like someone did a silver dip on a bronze coin or something.
