    available at Choice Bullion
    from their site:

2014 7 Coin Silver Proof Mexico Libertad Set
The set consists of all 7 sizes of silver proof Libertad coins:
    5oz, 2oz, 1oz, 1/2oz, 1/4oz, 1/10oz and 1/20oz
The coins will come in a traditional wood presentation case with COA.
    pre-order $475 + Shipping
    should be delivered Mid July
*Please note that there will be a strict limit of 1 set per customer/household. Duplicate orders will be cancelled and refunded.

I just pretty much copied this thread from another site but at $500 for a paypal preorder it seems like a true no brainer in the secondary market plus I love Libertads anyway.

Im in, GL to the rest of you'll take care

If the number being issued is correct and the coins are "as advertised" then it looks good.
    BUT
The ultimate value will be determined by the "after market" interest.

It seems like these are not issued directly from the mint, but rather from a distributor:

If it was an official mint product limited to 250 sets, I might be all over it. Does anyone else have any experience with sets assembled by these guys? Do they get treated as a true limited edition issue?

I personally think this will be a big dollar set.

I do love libertads but I also have a few concerns about this set, my sentiments exactly that it seems a distributor is putting the set together, they may have gotten authorization from the mint to do so but that makes a big difference IMO. I believe I've seen wording that refers to the set as "official". The other concern is it seems there is nothing different about the coins themselves other than being proofs, for example when the US mint makes a special ASE set, the coins are reverse proofed or whatever other process is used differentiating the coin from others in the series, in other words you can't get the coin without buying the set. I'm on the fence for this, it does look really nice based off the photos.

Most importantly I would like to find out the extent of Casa De Moneda's involvement in this. I would like to avoid a situation where someone on ebay takes a Morgan Dollar and puts it in a fancy holder with stickers and folded pamphlet with individually numbered COA and sells it as an ultra rare issue (not to imply the distributors working on this are doing anything shady).

What are the mintages of each coin? Thanks.

I see these sets as being similar to this set:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/190994131600

A set of coins assembled by a third party, however reputable they may be, but not necessarily an official "limited edition" released by the mint.

LoL, that is apples to oranges. Now I won't lie you"ll have brought up a couple valid points. I emailed CB to see what the deal is, i guess I assumed it was a mint produced set. Anyway, I took a $500 gamble and I ain't gonna sweat it. My fault for posting a bullsxxx deal I don't like doing that kind of stuff.!

...and maybe they will. I would look for examples of how any such sets they've assembled in the past have fared.

I did a quick search on ebay, including descriptions, for Bailey and Son Numismatic Service, but I'm only getting a handful of results and no sets at all. Maybe someone else here has better knowledge of them and their products.

I wouldn't sweat it either. It does look like it will be a nice set, and you can probably flip it on ebay to at least recover your investment, or maybe a little extra. Libertad proofs usually fetch a premium on ebay. Heck, the 5 oz alone sells for $205-$280.

A little more searching has revealed a few sets of Libertads that look a lot like the 2014, but they are being sold as a product of "Banco de Mexico":

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/201096554783

And that auction was only for the fractional coins, no 5, 2, or 1 oz.

Here is there official statement according to this guy.

    Hi Xxxx,

This is not a set we have put together. This set will come in the customary wood case, similar to the 5 coin set. In addition it will come with an official certificate of authenticity issued by Banco de Mexico.

Interesting...I wonder if this set is posted on Banco de Mexico's website of products? Or is it being stealth released only in the states by Choice Bullion? If it's being put together by Banco De Mexico I wonder what the role of Lois & Don Bailey and Son Numismatic Services is, other than distributing it. A pic of the box just came up on the CB site, and the certificate does for sure have the Banco De Mexico logo on it. Tough to say, could really be a big hit in the after market.

Hmm, found this posted on another forum:

    "Everyone,
Thank you very much for your interest. FWIW this is not a group buy.
Through a special arrangement with Pat Stovall of Lois and Don Bailey Numismatics we are pleased to be able to offer these sets to our friends on xxx.
Pat has been a long time friend and excellent source for many years. Through his strong ties with the Bank and the mint he was able to get their support for this project.
For those of you who subscribe to Pats newsletter and have already expressed interest with him you cannot also order through us as well to obtain two sets. There are only 250 sets available and we feel it's fair to limit one per customer to give everyone a chance to purchase a set. Please respect this policy.

With only 250 sets available for sale please follow the two steps above. You guys got the first glimpse of the COA. And so I will share the first glimpse of the box (same box maker as the 5 coin sets, same quality wood etc...)."

I edited some stuff to shorten the post and took out the name of the other forum, not sure if there are rules against this. In any case, it's really weird, it still sounds a lot like an unofficial but sanctioned product. From the wording, it sounds as I suspected that the mint was approached by the distributor, and the idea did not originate from the mint or banco de mexico. Throwbackkid, sorry by the way, not trying to knock the product or discourage anyone else, just trying to get to the bottom of the whole "official" thing, there are slight but important differences for me. If I can satisfy my own criteria I'd be in for one for sure.

I think the rarity of the coins is more important than who put together the set and who made the box and COA. Are any of the coins exclusive to the set, or at least very low mintage?

Agreed sodude, mintages are usually really low for these anyway. I also remember reading somewhere that smaller denom gold libertads were available in past years only in sets and not individually. Though these are silver, I wonder if the same could apply, that would make a huge difference (though I doubt the mint would make only 250 coins available world wide for an under the radar set like this). I guess the other question is how much over individual retail the set is. If it's not much over retail, then I would think it's a great buy for getting all coins at once and avoiding sell outs as well a nice box and coa to boot.

It's funny to see chatter in other forums about this, and how many posters are mistakenly assuming the MINTAGE of the coin is 250, not realizing it's the set itself that limited to 250.

Yeah, I bought one before I posted so I wouldn't get left out. It was a gamble but i'm a huge Libertad fan.
