Found this odd one

  1.     I wish you had better pics, but from your description, you have one of two coins that were glued together. Sorry, you won't be retiring on this one

    Or stuck together and he is looking at a layer of dirt or gunk.

    this looks like a rotted zinc cent because it is larger in diameter than normal.. the zinc swells up and rots and turns into dust , this leaves just a copper shell after a while. starting in 1982 our cent coins are just copper plating with zinc core

  7. Well it is a single penny thinner and larger in diameter ill post a few better pictures after work

    It's a rotted cent like I said in post #4 our cent coins after 1982 are just junk IMO . a rotted one like this will not go thru a counting machine and it is not even worth a cent . our cent coins will stay in ok condition for a long time if protected from mother nature but if they get exposed to the elements of nature they rot like your's did.
