Are we going to start seeing all kinds of varities with where the edge lettering starts? It seems like it'd be easiest to just do each coin randomly, so we may see people collecting the different rotations.

My understanding is that the mint has clearly stated there will be no set orientation on the edge lettering. This would mean that edge lettering location will not be a variety for coins.

The placement of the edge inscription will vary,as these are put on with a special raised collar before being struck in the dies, that is,if the collar hasn't been added to the dies.Hence the different relationship between the edge insription & when the coin is placed with the reverse showing upright.

Well, whether it's officially considered a variety or not, i'm sure people will still collect them.

There are also some errors we have to look forward to: no lettering, or upside down lettering.

FlyingMoose, upside down lettering is normal. In theory, the ratio of upright lettering coins to upside down lettering coins is 1:1.

I would guess if a coin is missing lettering or has the wrong lettering those would be collectable.

The lettering on the proofs will always be upright. Circulation coins should be 50-50.
