Got the coin in the mail and it looks spectacular. Red/brown/purple toning and some great luster remaining. In-hand I don't see any wear, and the lack of detail in the back of the head/hair area is common in this series (maybe a weaker strike), and I do not see any circulation wear in that area. Here are some basic pics I just took. I will post some individual pictures that capture the luster better later on.
Nice pick up! Question, what' up with the "graininness" in the photo? Looks almost like some sort of sparkles to me.
nice pick-up non cents, but, could be tough with pcgs, unless your a pcgs dealer, and spend lots of money with them, they'll just say altered surface
I'll guess the coin is already in a slab as AU-53 or 55. It just has that look to me. Nice looking coin and image.
For some reason my camera will sometimes add that effect to my photos. Not sure why. It usually happens when there is a good deal of "shine" or reflectiveness in what I am photographing.
If you notice some of the pictures from Matt - lostdutchmans coins have that same graininess look. Not sure why. As for the coin I can't get a good feel for the coins color, but just from glancing at it I could see a high AU to low MS. My first thought was AU. And I can never seem to get the color of copper just perfect either in pictures. Nice pickup.
