I didn't come close to purchasing anything on Goldberg's yet did add these two pieces which I like a lot and represent what makes these Ancient Greek coins attractive to me. I have been paring down some of the duplicate Talers which help fund this somewhat painfully pricey theme.

At this point, I am making a commitment on a go forward basis to try to do this right, within my time availability - 1) Buy the book(s) - I just purchased Rynearson, and Sear books for starters 2) Read the very informative AncientJoe and many other members write-ups 3) Reference websites. I feel that there is way too much information for me to digest in my spare time, while still attending and maintaining my core Taler collection, yet this is a start. Basically, become educated rather than simply pursuing what I subjectively see as "neat and eye appealing".

So here goes - the Sicyonia was inspired by SmEagle1795 one of a kind killer coin -

SICYONIA. SICYON (SIKYON). Ca. 400-323 BC. Silver AR Stater. 25mm, 12.20gr. BCD Peloponnesos 218; BMC 57. Obv: Chimaera standing left with forepaw raised, ÓE below, wreath in right field. Rev: Dove flying left within wreath. NGC AU*, 5/5, 5/5, Fine Style.

This second one is relatively large and while it is a blast white coin, the strike detail is superb compared with others of this type I have looked at in comparison.

AEOLIS. MYRINA. Circa 155-145 BC. AR Tetradrachm. 32mm, 17.01gr. Sacks Issue 20; SNG Copenhagen 223. Obv: Laureate head of Apollo right. Rev: Apollo Grynios to right, standing, holding branch and phiale, omphalos and amphora at lower right, monogram in left field, all within wreath. NGC MS 5/5, 4/5.

They are both beautiful pieces, but I'm partial to the Sikyonia.

A fantastic pair of coins, but the Sikyon is definitely my favorite, and I don't think I'd be remiss in calling it the centerpiece of your ancient collection so far :)
