Amazon called me a couple weeks ago and wanted me to set up a store with them. I was excited about the idea at first. I told the salesperson "it's about time that someone takes a serous run at EBay. The salesperson made it real clear that they're not trying to compete with EBay. He said that Amazon wants to discourage listings under $250. They charge like 15 or 17% of the the sale for listings under $250. I am not at my office right now and I don't have access to the exact figures. The final value fee drops to 6% when you list at $1000 per item or more. Amazon also wants ou to pay for a store like EBay does. They offered to waive the monthly store fees for the rest of the year. I wasn't impressed enough to go with an Amazon store at this time. I don't believe for a second that they wouldn't enjoy giving EBay a run for their money. It would be nice if someone would.....
You get stuff like this: This review is from: 1907 No Mint Mark Saint Gaudens Ultra High Relief Pattern $20 PCGS PR69 I bought this coin in the 1980s when I was working in Wall Street and had so much money that I didn't know what to do with it all. This is such an amazing coin. It went great with my collections of Lambos, 3 mansions, and 2 yachts. When Robin Leach came to my mansion in California, I decided to show case it on Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. After that show aired, my friends at the country club could only talk about my coin and nothing else that I showed off. Those guys. LOL!! This coin has been with me along time and it definitely lets people know that you have made it. I used to pay a pilot to constantly fly around my mansion in a blimp and display the words "the world is yours." Fast forward to 2014. I am broke now, but still have the coin. My friends tell me all the time to sell it so I can start living normally again. I refuse to do so, because this coin is just plain awesome to look at on a daily basis. Sometimes it has me in a trance and I constantly refer to it as "precious." Was it a good buy in the end? Absolutely. Plus you get free shipping now. I didn't get that when I ordered it.
Amazon isn't offering the Fulfillment by Amazon option (Prime shipping) within the Collectible Coins category. I would guess it's due to the security concerns of keeping valuable coins in their warehouses.
I'm sure they could deal with the security concerns if they thought it would be profitable to get into doing that. BTW, why no link to CoinTalk on your links page?
