Of course! Remember the 1794 Starred Reverse a fella found which graded out at FR 2? Sold for $9,000.
Slight correction. http://coins.ha.com/itm/large-cents/1794-1c-starred-reverse-genuine-pcgs-s-48-b-38-r5/a/1151-5420.s For those that have Heritage accounts, the above Starred Reverse 1794 which was graded Genuine Surface Damage, was found in a lot that a friend had sold to a collector for $25. The coin story was written up Coin World and the coin sold for $9775 in Jan 2011. The story of the find is here: http://forums.collectors.com/messageview.cfm?catid=26&threadid=783478 which only goes to show that regardless of condition, a truly "popular" rarity can command some serious money. I was astonished to see this in this post 3 years after all of this happened. I saw this and thought, "That coin looks awfully familiar." I am friends with them man(Terry Zerr) who bought it and he brought it to a local flea market just after he got it authenticated.
Rare for sure! One of a kind. being a 69er getting trashed by a steam engine.... Technology made the 1969 429 BOSS....no coal shoveling required..so that coin either traveled back in time with McFly and got smashed or was stamped with the wrong date in the 50's! PRICELESS hehe ahh, sorry..trying to be a smarta**, usually feeling like a dumba**, and hopelly not looking like an a**. Thanks guys for all ur knowledge shared. Fun Hobby, becomes almost an addiction, now its in my blood, coininfection ,so I thank you for all my dumb questions answered, and ahead of time for the dumb questions I'm sure to ask.
