Latest addition to my collection is Tetricus I & Tetricus II. I loved the portrait of Tetricus I and felt Tetricus II was a bit better then average for him as a whole, though it isnt Dougs coin, but I am not patient enough for perfect. Tetricus I (271 - 274 A.D.) Æ Antoninianus O: IMP C TETRICVS P F AVG, radiate and cuirassed bust right. R: VICTORIA AVG, Victory walking left, wreath in right, palm frond in left. Colonia Agrippinensis (Cologne, Germany) mint, 271 A.D. 3g 19mm RIC V, part II, 139 Tetricus II (274 A.D.) Æ Antoninianus O: C PIV ESV TETRICVS CAES, radiate, draped bust right. R: SPES AVGG, Spes walking left, holding flower and raising skirt. 2.9g 19mm RIC 270
I like your additions to your collection, and I like Tetricus I and II coins in general. Congrats. TETRICUS I Antoninianus OBVERSE: IMP C TETRICVS P F AVG, radiate draped bust right REVERSE: SPES PVBLICA, Spes advancing left holding flower and raising hem of skirt Struck at Treveri, 272-274 AD 3.9g, 19.1mm RIC 136 TETRICUS II Antoninianus OBVERSE: C PIV ESV TETRICVS CAES, radiate, draped bust right REVERSE: SPES AVGG, Spes walking left, holding flower and raising skirt Struck at Treveri, 272-273 AD 2.5g, 19mm RIC 270v
Your Tetricus is much nicer than mine. Tetricus I Æ Antoninianus. IMP C TETRICVS P F AVG, radiate draped bust right / LAETITIA AVGG, Laetitia standing left, holding wreath & anchor. Mint II RIC 87, Cohen 72.
Wow, you guys have some pretty sweet Tetricus coins!! => great new additions, Mat (you seem to be buying-up a whole lotta new coins lately ... or maybe it's just an illusion, for I have been trying to cut-down on my purchase frequency?) ... either way, congrats!! ... sadly, I do not have any Tetricus coins to post in your cool thread (*sigh*)
You must have me confused with someone else. My best T2 is far from perfect. It does seem that dad is much easier to find with full legends than is the son.
Nice coins, everyone. A carved red jasper of Lucilla. Isnt mine, I wish. Someone send me 1,000 Euro and I have a chance for it . Some were birthday coins I have had for awhile, others lately have been cheap purchases & swaps with others on other boards. Still have 9 more I havent shared. To me its pretty much perfect, for a Tetricus II. Rarely have I seen one look as nice as yours.
