  3. Absolute fake. Liberty banner misaligned among other things.

Genuine. Made in Bejing. This one looks cast, not struck.

I'm gonna call this one real 80% chance upon comparing it to my comparable condition pcgs f-12 that I bought raw and submitted I really can't see any major differences all the mottos etc are in the exact positions and are exactly the same scale I have 3 1878-s trades of varying grades and this is in proportion and shows legit wear not casting weakness

The wear patterns are exactly right compared to a real one something the cast fakes never have

I would buy this coin as genuine. It's possible I might feel differently with it in hand, but I doubt it.

As for the coin being a casting, it would be extremely difficult to successfully cast the wheat stalks on the obverse without gapping or bridging, and especially the very thin line running down the middle of the eagle's left wing.

I'd say real if the weight is on . As everything aligns with my '78-S .

Cleaned long ago but PCGS gave it a straight grade of VF-30.

Good Threads Larry , guess you can buy genuine raw coins if you know what you're doing .

Amen just know the series and weight is real important too I'd never buy a raw trade without seeing in hand you can see so much more subtle detail that a pic don't capture sometimes it's just a feel
