I'm fairly certain from reading comments on other threads and forums that the black line is a guide for cutting. I would just like to check/verify with a photo of my recently acquired note. The line in question is circled in yellow. Is the guide reason accurate?

Yes the line is a cutting guide. They are very common.

Thank you. It has some areas with smudges, but that's most likely why I was able to get it. Otherwise it probably would of sold for more.

I find it ironic that with coins, errors mean lots of dough, but with paper money, most collectors groan at the site of one.
    conflicting interests much?

A visible guide line is not considered an error on currency. The note would have to show at least the edge of the connecting note to be considered an error. Perfectly centered notes are the most desirable and being a little off center is akin to a weakly struck coin.

i don't find this to be true at all. there are plenty of currency error collectors. don't really know may that would groan at an error either. the note posted by the OP is not an error. just a simple cut line. as mentioned already it is quite common
