    Hey guys.

I gut this piece in an old wallet that contained everything from colonial US currency to civil war sutler script.... to this piece.

I'm thinking it's revolutionary script... anyone able and willing to translate any bits of it?

    Anyone familiar with these.

    Thanks!

Looks more like Japanese hansatsu than a Chinese note.

I would say the subject matter sure does not look like the typical subject matter for a legal tender note. Rats scurrying about, etc. Its a very interesting piece, and would love to know its nature.

I should also add that the denomination is 5 Silver Monme. I can't grab the date today as I don't have my charts with me; They often have a "year six in the reign of so and so" type of dating system.

    The date is 1771 (明和八年).

Thanks guys... I learn something new every day... I had never seen one of these before... I saw some Chinese pieces from the revolution and thought that is what this was.
