I had posted a previous post of this dime and was told there was no way this dime was a ddo. I hope these better pictures change peoples minds!
I see the doubling! But it is polish doubling, meaning PMD, meaning thats its worth 10 cents. saying its not a double die does not mean we dont see the doubling.
JWITTEN, I thought this website had pro's on here who could truly help. I guess not it seems like a bunch of guys who are clueless! my only option is to get it certified then make sure I write every negative thing about the so called pro's!
It does, its just most of them have lives and families and are not on 24/7. just wait and your question will be answered. but, if you want the answer to the question: "is it a double die?" the answer: No. (But keep it cause it looks cool.)
I don't feel it's a DDO but sure everyone can see the doubling. I also don't know of anything in the minting process that would cause this look. Hang on and I'm sure you will get an answer.
Please take the coin out of the holder and take an image of both sides. You will get better answers to your question.
Polish doubling would not leave a set of secondary raised details like you see. I'm fairly certain it isn't a doubled die. One that major would have been discovered long ago. I'm thinking a possible in-collar double strike, but wait for the experts to give a better analysis.
Plus if its the only one to exist I am sure it would be worth a great deal, call me a dreamer but I know what I see !
If it's the only one to exist, it's not a DDO. It don't work like that. There is much you do not understand about the minting process.
