Kushan Coin Smuggling

    Man, remind me to never take my coins to India. The Kushans look ok, we would need to see the reverses to see if there was any real rarities in there, but I doubt it. Kind of like a lot of media reporting, overreacting to a fairly common thing. I bet you the passenger bought them from a local dealer in India.

    Just so people know, these are NOT RARE coins, (as far as I can see). I own at least one gold example of each Kushan rulers shown in these pics, (to be fair, one is impossible for me to see if its Kushan or kidarite, but I own both anyway). Its not an example of someone smuggling away the crown jewels of Indian numismatics.

    The catch also contained some 270 copper coins of Sultanate period besides coins from the fairly recent British Empire and the United States.

    What is the problem with leaving the country with these coins?
