Howdy all, Paper money isn't my best area of knowledge. Any idea on what this thing is worth/grade? (not expecting much) Aidan
It's a star note, so it's more valuable than a regular issue 1953 $2 note. In its condition, I'd say it's worth between $8 and $15 on a normal day.
Would it be wise for the OP to try and erase the "64" that was penciled in? Is it obvious that I'm asking for myself more than for Aiden? Always have found those pesky numeric notations distracting....
If it's a pencil mark, you can try going over it with a dry cleaning eraser pad. It's used by artists and drafters to clear off surface dirt and smudges without harming the paper underneath it. http://www.dickblick.com/products/alvin-dry-cleaning-pad/ Do not use a normal pencil eraser because it is too abrasive and will damage the paper. However, it's unlikely you'll make up the cost of the eraser pad in the increase in value. I honestly wouldn't bother with it. You can mention in the listing that its a pencil mark. If the buyer wants to try it themselves with an eraser, they can.
Yeah was thinking about erasing it with a pencil eraser. (thankfully I thought twice 'bout it) I will just leave the penciled marking on it. Thanks all.
