Depends -- if the Mint extends the program for each president as they die. As it stands right now, the last Prexybucks will be issued in 2016 with Ford and Reagan. According to the legislation, a president has to have been dead for two years before getting added into this program, so if Carter, Bush I, Clinton, Bush II, or whomever gets elected in 2008 dies before 2014 then they'll get a coin; after that, nope, too late.

Unless Congress extends the program...

 

If they're going to go through the hassle of having this program (which they will, it's about to start) they should continue to honor each President 2 years after he dies. Let's just say that in 2014 the program is over and George W. Bush dies in 2017...(and no other President dies around that same time). In 2019 they should make a Sac dollar (assuming we still have 'em) and a Geroge W. Bush dollar as well that way eventually everyone is honored. Personally I think living Presidents should be honored, too but that'll never happen. The 2 year wait doesn't really make sense to me either.

 

Did anyone pick up the Danso US Presidential Dollar album to start their collection? Hoo-boy...they have some "fast facts" about each President...when they get to George W. Bush it is pretty clear whoever wrote his bio is NOT a fan! They really give him a slam. I thought it was pretty inappropriate to get political in a coin album in like that. Maybe the bio will get re-edited in the future based on how things turn out in Iraq!

Yea what did they say??? Also, if they edit/re-vise it, maybe the albums will be worth more than the coin as it'll be more rare...

Don't you mean when they are sure there will be silver proofs? San Francisco isn't likely to start producing business strikes of the Deadprez coins when they don't produce any other business strikes.

Anyhow, with the way Dansco albums are made, they can always sell individual add-on "S" pages if they become necessary.

 

I talked to Dansco. They will be making an album for P, D and S as soon as the mint makes up it's mind...

 

We already know there will be non-silver proofs. They go on sale next week. They are waiting to know if the book will be P,D,S, or P,D,S,S.
