How to dispose of World Coin Collection.

I do have to admit having a bad attitude that makes me not want to help anyone whose only interest is "what they are worth". Perhaps sensing that, we regularly get posts here that act like they have interest in the coins but later we find what they really want to know is how to craft a successful listing for eBay.

I don't know enough about World Coins to make an honest profit from them. For that matter, I have devoted a good part of the last 50 years of my life to studying ancients and know that making a fortune in them is not as easy as working for 35 years and retiring on Social Security. I know that some of you regularly sell coins for twice what you paid. The secret there is knowing where you can buy coins for a quarter what they are "worth" and counting nothing for the time it took to obtain books and study. If the learning part is fun, 'nothing' is a good return for the time.

Whenever someone tells you a coin or a collection is worth a certain amount, ask them if that is their best offer. If they then say that it was not actually an offer, don't bet on getting that figure elsewhere. If they raise it substantially, you know they were trying to take you in that first round.

This is not a situation where I need the money. This is a situation where I seem to have fallen out of love with the collection. Notice one of the options I presented was to donate to a local Boy Scout Troop. I was mainly fishing for opinions. After reviewing the several suggestions, I think I am just going to put aside for a while and see if I still feel the same way in the future.

 

A wise decision. And the interest you'd earn on the proceeds is -- ZILCH. Plus after two more years of bogus economics, the PM portion may be worth twice as much as today.
