My primary numismatic interest is in 19th Century Central and South American coinage, particularly rare Latin American silver crowns with eye appeal. I'm interested to know what your favorite piece(s) are from Latin America. My favorite piece, that I own, is the Cuba KM-1 1897 Wide-Date Souvenir Peso (pictured - PCGS AU-55). Not only is it among the most beautiful Peso's ever minted (To me anyway) but it's history and it's rarity make for a great center piece to my collection. I would greatly appreciate seeing your favorite coins (Crowns, Minors, Patterns etc. ) from 19th Century Latin America. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Look forward to seeing the pics. I love the 1931, 1934 and 1947 Balboa's. In my opinion, they are some of the most undervalued coins today. The fact that they were minted in Philadelphia with the same specs as the Morgan and Peace Dollars makes them highly desirable to me. Especially in light of the very low mintages compared to their U.S. cousins... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah those are nice. I'm always keeping my eyes peeled for some nice pieces. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have a 50 centesimos but will have to find those pics when I get home. I had these pics saved on a facebook photo album.
Found it. Panama 50 centesimos: I paid $100 for this 1 about 8 years ago. I think it is a AU grade. these type coins go for $400-500+ in MS grades. I really like the obverse side.
1932 Cuba 1 peso, AU grade, bought this for $70. good luck buying them now. unless you see them at a coin show or you find them listed on ebay as 1 peso. Ebay does not allow Cuban coins to be sold on ebay anymore.: I had more time than I thought.... but really off to work now. bye, Craig.
Both of those are amazing! That Cuba '32 Peso is fantastic and I would think AU-58 at a minimum Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
These are rather ordinary coins, but are the ones that I will let go last if I absolutely have to. I have the 1960 2, 5 and 10 Centesimos with the 1971 2 Escudos in nickel all UNC. This set is some of the most sought after 20th century coins in Chile due to rarity and historic significance. from the late 19th, I would have to go for this one. I have never seen a Chilean coin in this condition.
Thanks for the Chilean coin pics. I'm becoming a big fan of Chile. Very nice coins Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I posted this coin before, but it is a 1/5th sol from Peru graded MS65 by PCGS. I couldn't leave without it.
